Most people post interesting or usable content, have ads on blog, visitors click on ads, they make money. You could also charge for visitors to read certain content, like per post. They could be turned into membership sites for one-time or recurring income. Also could be turned into stores to sell physical or digital items. Or affiliate stores such as selling amazon products. Could flip them for cash.
Another way you could use your blog is to do a video blog. Then embed YouTube videos to your blog and monetize the YouTube videos. If you don't know what I mean, there's a feature in the back office of your YouTube account that allows you to "monetize" your videos. When doing so, your video will have ads that either show up before the video plays or they will show up on top of the video while it is actually playing. If you get a lot of traffic to your website and videos then you can make a decent income from that.
The bigger question is how do YOU want to make money using a blog. There are several methods: PPC, CPA, Affiliate Marketing, etc...
