What is up with all these proxy sales threads?

I suggest a subforum for these sale threads dealing with proxies.

Seriously, this is getting way spammy. The majority of the frontpage is populated with such threads.

Every Tom, Dick and Harry is getting a domain, uploading phproxy and then listing it for sale a couple days later.

This is eclipsing every other listing here.

Sellers are free to build whatever they like to, but it's not healthy to see 15/20 sales threads dealing with proxies, this is degrading the value of the sites for sale forum.

You could make that case for any number of junk sites. If you sieved out the junk, there'd be very little for sale here. Sitepoint is better for quality listings.

I basically think DP should let users only list quality proxies, not proxies of a week old. Most websites other than proxies are either turnkey or a full website.

Proxies are NOT considered turnkey and should NOT be sold as a young proxy, at least here.

Exactly the same thoughts here - I have to filter out all the proxies, as it seems like 50% or even more are proxy sites. A subforum would be nice for those sites.

I think the OP has the right idea, a subforum for proxies - sorted!

Then wouldn't there be a sub-forum for arcade sites too because a few months ago these were even more popular than proxies??

Those proxies are just a hype, in a few months most of it will be passed (the arcade hype passed too didn't it?) :)

Yea defo agree, there seems to be a wave of people starting proxies just to sell them a couple of weeks later, before hosting problems begin and before they are smartpriced, so I am sure many people are buying these unaware that they will soon be smartpriced and the earnings will drop significantly

A new quick buck trend ..............

These are not established sites and should be listed under a separate "Turnkey Sites" category

Another addition, i think alot of these sales are down to the proxy.org and adsense account problems, people used to just buy a load of domain setup a proxy submit to proxy.org get half decent traffic and some earnings,

Now since this is possibly dangerous to your adsense account, many people are bailing out and ditching their proxy networks which were almost entirely reliant on proxy.org for traffic

I suggest that Dp dose what SP has done one forum for established sites atleast 1 motnh old with traffic and another which can be turnkey/fresh sites which is no traffic or very little traffic so proxys can go in there.

This would be very useful to users so they know what they are looking for.

hmmm, being as I'm still pretty new to DP, I have not witnessed the changing trends. Since I got here there have been loads of proxy threads and less arcade threads, but I can understand what you are saying.

Perhaps as NetworkTown has just mentioned, sites established for less than one month could be the answer.

Agree with NetworkTown. A sub category for turnkey/new sites and eastablished sites will make most sense on dp, exactly like they did it on sitepoint.

only to add that i also agree with separating sales. maybe a turnkey section and that could solve a lot of the problems.

Btw my proxies are not at proxy.org and they are having good traffic...........
and the reason there are many sales is that school is almost over so traffic will go down on all proxies:)

I would suggest seperating in 2 threads.

A thread were the seller has made a payment to post and another free to post thread.

The pro buyers would be able to sve a bucket load of time, since the week old proxie type sites, the rss feeder type site builder may not pay to post :)

paying for listings will turn this into another sitepoint.
DP is good as it is, but improvements with regards to the above point(s) should be made, in my opinion.
