Does anyone knows if Google makes a difference between content from generic website page, a blog post or a forum? I'm trying to understand if pages of content coming from forums can rank as well as a blog post or article. Does the script used for a forum can also make a difference for SEO?
100% correct. If search engine friendly url turn on, search engine spider love it and you will get better ranking. This is the main reason why a lot of webmasters use mod rewrite via .htaccesss.
friendly url has an advantage, but i know many PR7, PR8 forums and blogs, so i would assume it's not a very crucial factor
yes, there are big difference.Normal forums have dynamic urls (which have?,=).Google actually take it even gives to it PR,but not like the static or the mod rewrite (html urls).Google like it more and it take high PR easiler and faster than the usuall
You should be fine, but: 1.) always keep in mind that SE doesn't like id= in the URL. 2.) .htaccess is better with correct mod rewrite rules 3.) avoid forum software that use multiple values in the URL and mod rewrite is not available, for example, to view one thread. e.g. forum has the following uRL: domain.com/forum/index.php?view=1&thread=324234
Those forums and blogs is the early bird in this industry. Early bird eat the worm and for any website which is less than "1 year old", a lot of hard work have to be done.
My advice is to not use a forum. Blogs and "static websites" seem to rank a whole lot better. Forums are for conversation.
It depends what kind of forum you have.. if people post intelligent posts... then you are well off, if they post something like "roflcopter haha lmao lol" then forget about it
Exactly. Most users will generate horrible titles, like "Hey Alice!". They have no sense of bringing in new traffic
