I see people like to buy multiple c class ip's on webhost and I was wondering what is the use of it?

Multiple class c ip's is suppose to defeat a google filter which picks up site from same owner, and will penalise them to avoid someone to dominate a niche in serp.

So it's better to buy a new ip for every site that you're going to have?

If you have an SSL certificate on your website, you need a dedicated ip.

As for what I was saying before, google penalty, from my personnal opinion, im not sure it's, I have never experimented with it.

If you intend to cross link sites of same niche together, and you beleive this theory, you should have the following:

    • Different c class ip
    • Different whois
    • different google adsense, analytics and webmaster account per url.

With ipv4 space getting scarser, providers want more justification for their address space. A dedicated IP address just for seo reasons is not acceptable for most providers neither it is for arin/ripe.

I've heard and read many sources that say that there is no penalty for hosting multiple sites on the same IP. But, their algorithm is so complex for ranking anything could be possible.
