I would like to know what is considered the typical conversion rate for a lead. Also, I would like to know what is a typical conversion rate for getting a sale. Thank you. The reason I ask is because my affiliate program which pays you for leads, says that they have a great conversion rate and that some of their affiliates generate a 40% conversion rate. Please tell me if this is very possible, or if this is only the case for the extremely rare scenario. Thank you.

It depends on so many factors that you can't really say. It depends on where you promote the product, what type of traffic you have, the quality of the merchants site, the quality of your site, etc.
