I guess it all depends on your site and how google is feeling. I was able to obtain a PR of 5 in 1 or so months time. The best was is to build some backlinks to your site.
If you paypal me $100, I'll make sure you get some PR ASAP. j/k - you'll have to wait until the next google visible toolbar update. In the meanwhile, you have "real PR" in Google's eyes, but it just isn't something that shows up visibly.
thanks for the replies. I have read different things and always like to hear new views, I just started submitting my sites to directories. I guess I will keep on doing that.
It sounds like you're new to the SEO game, so I'll give you a few pointers. Don't submit to directories, if you build a nice site that provokes other websites to link to you, the directories and SEs will find you. Keep content fresh and relevant. Unique and intriguing content will always rank much better than copied-junk. A blog is always a great way to start out - use your WordPress blog as a custom CMS for your content. PageRank is a measurement of the authority linking back to you, to increase your PR, simply find a way to have people link to you. PR and SERPs are completely separate issues, keep that in mind, and remember that your ultimate goal should be to drive traffic, and not the little green google toolbar.
That sounds like really good advice. I just started a new mario related fan site and I was looking for exactly the same kind of information. I have already listed myself in about 10-20 pr5+ directories and things of that nature. Still building on content everyday though and trying to affiliate with like minded websites!
Sounds like you're well on your way! I will say, from my experience, if you can find several blogs around your topic, a simple email asking them to exchange links and telling them that you really like reading their site, will often yield a few backlinks.
heard many different things, and yea i would say im relatively new to it. thanks again for the advice!
