Only my competitors rank on the first page for my keywords.
They will never link to me even if I pay them to do so :D
So this SEO tip while 100% correct is useless sometimes.

SEO tip? Build a beautiful site and provide quality content and you will never have to worry about SEO.
Low quality sites don't rank high in the long term no matter of how good your SEO is.

Jokingly (or maybe not): Only crappy sites need SEO :)

My first tip would be not to believe everything you read about SEO. Much of it wrong, out-of-date or misleading. Even here. Do your own research and stop following the crowd.

Other than that I would echo zexy. Build a quality site and the SEO willl (mostly) take care of itself.

Seo is a marathon, don't listen to all the snake oil salesmen who claim #1 rank in 48 hrs.

Build your site using your keywords and good quality unique content. Don't forget to sue h1 and h2. Do on page optimization and off page optimization. It is a lot of work to get it right but well worth it.

Somehow I do not believe your customers reach top spots. I have seen your services, and they are old stuff.

SEO (Search Engine Optimization) is the term used to describe the tricks of the trade that maximize your website-rank in the search engines' results. The higher your rank, the more traffic your site will receive.

I think you can learn everything there is to learn about on-page SEO by studying almost any Wikipedia page. It's all there - including a bunch of links out to other helpful sites. Google loves to see helpful links out no matter what the gurus tell you.

IMO, what I have found is very important is that the same keywords relating to the site be used in the domain, content (h1, h2), page titles, and file name's also doesn't hurt to use related words that have the same meaning as one word but is used to replace your main keywords for image and text link alt and title tags. Also be sure to keep those keywords in mind and use them when submitting links or buying links or directory listings.

Another thing I have noticed is that when I place a link on one of my oldest sites(5+ years old) which is indexed in dozens and dozens of search engines the site is picked up sometimes in 1-2 days with good placement on pages 1-3 on Google. So a good idea may be to hunt down the older sites because they have had a longer time in the field and have most likely been picked up by many, many search engines.
