I have changed billboard under the top of my page to square in the text. This cause i have started earning REAL money. Before that my CTR was fair. Now it is on normal level. :)

There are many who don't agree with their claim about Google Search box being a great revenue generator... Good that you agree on the AdLinks at least.

I'm not successful yet (getting close to $20 in 2 months), but I'm quite happy with the little progress I've made. These are some tips from DP that work well for me:
    1. find a niche
    2. write well, post regularly, market it to relevant forums and/or digg.com
    3. blend the ads
    4. be patient

Before visiting this forum I didn't have the feeling to earn a lot with AdSense. But I have seen that a lot of people are just earning few money with AdSense.

My experience is the following :
I started to develop my web sites in 1998 (No Google at this time) when I was student. During three years I worked each time I had free time (Around 40 hours / week) in order to develop the content of my web sites.
Now day, I am earning about 1600 $ / month and I just have to work around 20 Hours / Month in order to update the content.

    My receipt would be :

    - Find a subject that you like. (It won't be possible to work hours on a subject that you don't like)
    - Build real and UNIQUE content. (It(s not just a one week work, you will need months of hard work if you want to get good content)
    - Optimize your web site for search engines (It won't be hard if you have good content)
    - Once you get traffic on your web site it is time to think on the way how you can earn money (It is not a need to spend your day on SEO forum while you do not have any valuable content. Start with the beginning !)
    - Do not hesitate to watch what your competitor are doing, how much banners they put on each page, which size.. (We have got one luck on internet, we can analyse the business of our competitors just by watching the web pages sources)
    - Update your content because visitors and search engines likes fresh content.
    - Do not spend your time counting your few $$, work on your web site(s).
    - Do not count your time.

So, there is no miracle, without working hard It will not be possible to get any interesting revenue from a web site.

    Sorry for my poor english.

    I hope it could help.

Excellent advice yopla. I've been at it over 10 years and your advice is almost exactly what I've done. There may be a few "get-rich-overnight" stories out there, but they are very rare and I wouldn't want to depend on the income from those kinds of sites. As with most kinds of success, it takes work, time, skill, and creativity.

With examples like yours and yopla, many still buy the "secrets" series of books... what do you say to them?

When we have good content, does it make any difference when we have our own domain with hosting on some free web hosting ?
Or they both will have the same traffic result ?
