What is the sandbox?

I hear people saying "I'm in the sandbox" and "getting out of the sanbox". What is that? Trust me, I searched for it first, but couldn't find it, and I would really like to know.

Ahh, now I understand. Also, I am promoting it naturally, so no worries there. I hope there is a sandbox, at least that would explain why my site is ranked so low.
