I am currently working with a friend who owns asuli0.wordpress.com which has an average of 300 people online each day. (It's a very large, and popular site). Because of the large amount of viewers, we've decided to take the blog off WordPress.com and host elsewhere. (as well as run ads) This website has been online since 2008, and with WordPress.com. We've decided to take two approaches: a) Redirect the WP.com site buy mapping the domain, than hosting nameservers elsewhere. Thus, it will all redirect to the new domain. OR b) Keep the site up, but post a message letting users know of the new URL. We rank very high in google for the term trucos de club penguin. And we get a lot of visitors... we don't want to loose this. What should we do?
Hi, In my own experiences, no matter which option you pick up, you need to keep your old blog on wordpress.com alive. Right, a 301 redirection would be the best method for such transfer but you also need to have the right to access to your site root for the old domain. have a nice day,
URL redirection is pretty good but try to enhance the other options and just evaluate which would be the better.
