I have been told that my new site's (http://www.celticsymbols.net) meta tags don't have the right number of words and keywords. Can anyone please help me understand how to improve this - there's really a lot I don't understand. For example, when i run a scan with Widexl's meta tag analyzer my site has no problems as far as meta tags yet I am finding it near impossible to get ranked - but if I analyze a competing site on Google's first page I see it has too many keywords, poor keyword relevancy, etc. Can someone explain? Many thanks to all in advance!
Sort of a backhanded question on how to get to the first page on google. As already noted, the keyword meta tag is not used by Google (or most of the major search engines). Assuming you already have determined what keywords/phrases to target, you should uses them in your: url web page title meta description in-bound links internal links h1 h2 h3 tags bold text alt image tags and content Getting in-bound links from relevant/related websites is important. ~Roland
I would recommend that concentrate on the Title as well because of its importance in this path Cheers
