What is the real meaning of spamming

Does anyone there can tell the meaning of spamming. What is your own understanding of the real meaning of spamming.

Topic about posting to yahoo groups. How can you tell that somebody is spamming in your groups?

Well one form of spamming is double posting...

 

What if I posted to 20 different groups . But I don't double my posting?

You mean 20 different sites? If that's the case then, no that is not considered as spamming, IMO. Consider the article directories where a writer or composer submits the same directory to article site.

In my own opinion, NO-Yahoo groups won't consider that as spamming.

 

Why are you so worried about spamming?
IMO you should be clear enough to express your query so that others can respond to it. So first figure it out for yourself what exactly you are looking for?

Anything that is done intentionally which is not relevant to the content is spamming. There are various parameters that everyone follows for spamming; it really depends upon person to person and site to site as well.
If you think that someone is crossing his limits or voilating the T&C then it is spamming for sure.

 

Spam = creating undue attention for the benefit of the few. (Instead of quality for the masses.)

 

Yahoo groups is full of spam, i doubt they'll even notice you.
