    Well, the one obvious benefit is that a human reviewed each site, so every site within a specific category should be relevant.

    Which other visitors. It's intended for webmasters, so you really don't care about any other visitors besides webmasters. Other visitors shall appear on such a site by an accident only in any case.

    I am running my own DoD for mainly 2 reasons

    1.To provide a collective quality SEF direcctories for webmasters and other directory owners and allow them to add their resource for free in the process of SEO.
    2.This resource will be useful for any individual to get a regular updating list.
    with the latest directories information.
