What is the ratio of clicks to page impressions?

Suppose my web site gets 100,000 page impressions a month when it's starting out. How many clicks on average will it get? Is it like 1 click per 1,000 views? I'd appreciate it if someone could give me an estimated figure.

he, he. :D funny. but not true.

really, your question is like asking "what is the temperature of the water coming out of a faucet." there are SOOOO many variables involved that it is impossible to answer. these include things like your traffic source, ad placement, theme and much more.

i would say that you should aim to get a 5% click rate, but many get less, and many get more. there simply is no right answer to your question.

I get less than 1% CTR. If your website is interesting, you'll get a low CTR. No reason for people to leave your site.

You must do some tests: change the colour or placement of ads ad follow the best ads placement.

Agreed, it really depends, so you can always ask others, but you have to work to get a higher CTR as long as your traffic is legit.

I this is really good topic. But first it depends in your niche. Second how you placed your ads. Third what kind of traffic. If people is searching some thing desperately. if they don't find relevant content. Then probably click on ads more often.

I guess there's more factors involved to give any reasonable estimate. I just wanted to know so I could make some projections and estimates on how much work to do, how many pages to add a month and so on. But I'll just learn from experience. I'm sure the AdSense forum here will be a good place to ask about ads placements. Thanks!

I had my site developed and for almost 2 years the CTR was approximately 1.5%. I moved to wordpress and the CTR rate has gone upto almost 8% - 9%. It depends a lot on the ad position, color palettes and site structure.

That's quite high. Where do you place your ads? And is that for all your stuff or just one web site or blog?
