use digg.com. althought many methods need apply like promoting also on twitter, facebook, youtube and other great social network sites.

 

Good content and social networking seems to be a good place to generate traffic. Commenting on similar blogs is also useful.

 

I would definitely agree with DeniG. Related comments and getting yourself in on listings of prominent websites in your niche.

5 pieces of advice from my side:
1) Post your website in your signature in forums where you have above 500 posts
2) Twittering/Facebooking each and every one of your posts. Also share your posts on MySpace with an exciting profile.
3) Submit your articles or posts to directories such as EzineArticles
4) Post your blog on directories such as Blogorama and get exciting everyday traffic inflow (targeted traffic)
5) Sign up on bookmarking sites like Digg/Reddit/Delicious and bookmark all posts.

Follow these 5 points (none of them takes much time) and see if I'm right or wrong
Your traffic statistics within a week's time will answer my question

 

Twitter has been mentioned before in this thread but i'll repeat it because many people don't realise that each Twitter 'Tweet' is actually a separate webpage & it has good authority from the main Twitter site.
I would also submit articles to high authority Article Directories like 'EzineArticles.com'.
Video submissions are great too.
Social Bookmarking is becoming seriously diluted as a form of web promotion so you'll just have to do it with more relevancy than your competitors.
Don't throw backlinks willy-nilly at your site. Have a plan & grow them daily so that they increase over time in a non-uniform manner.
E.g.:
Day 1: Add 10 backlinks
Day 2: Add 15 backlinks (25 in total)
Day 3: Add 20 backlinks (45 in total)
Day 4: Add 25 backlinks (70 in total)

Try not to increase the backlinks number by the same amount every day (e.g.- in my example above i was increasing by 5/day) because Google algorithms recognise trends & they'll spot that straight away. Be as random & erratic as possible.

 

You will have to use a variety of SEO techniques for this. You can start commenting on relevant blogs ,you can also make your own blog with good content in it.

 

In fact, content is the king, just write articles every day. Please make sure that your content is original and unique on the internet.

This isn't connected to the trackback thingy is it? Like legally sourcing from other posts online etc.?

 

No it's not the same as a trackback because its specificly designed to alert search engines about your new post. Trackbacks are for author notifications of links to their documents from other sites.

 

The quickest way to get traffic to the blog are first maintain good and quality content on the blog. Then also make nuse of the social networking sigtes to get more traffic. Also some link exchange can bring some visitors to the blog.
