I am sorta new to directories and I have been wondering why people add 2 or 3 links to new directories. I realize that a directory is suppose to offer resources related to a category for people in search of such. Are there any other logical reasons to do so?
1 keeps pages out of the supplemental (dup. content) index 2 looks like you actually care about your dir 3 users dont wanna see empty categories 4 content is king
if you have many empty categories they look identical for a bot .. you shouldnt show the exact same code for different urls like http://www.peaklevel.com/home/cooking/ and http://www.peaklevel.com/sports/baseball/ not only relevant related resources can help, but some related news or articles .. imo, content is king and related content is god
Both great answers and yeah content is king. Related content can be tricky. Seems like you have two options for article content on category pages 1.related rss feeds 2.writing related articles
So you can talk sh*t and THINK you are better than the rest, instead of letting things grow organically.
To add information about sites so it can be more accessible to people everywhere. At least that's why I do it
No. On the other-hand we get each directory master we take into our workshop to focus on a category that they are particularly interested in and to build a resource. This to give the site a chance of attracting special interest traffic in the long term and a future without Google. The only reason directory masters seed their sites is because they believe that buyers are going to be fooled into thinking its something its not. Its all a question of questionable quality and you might have noticed that I haven't had one single third party submission to the directory I list in my signature. That should tell you all you need to know.
the most principal is that your site have to be updated at least once a day, so when you have new links in new categories added you have your site updated and SE bots visit your site everyday and have better results in SE and also it influences your pagerank.
Why do you want Google to visit daily? Why do directory masters want thousands of indexed pages filled with useless content? PR might be dead but we have to look at and re-evaluate most of the stuff we have come to accept as basic principals in this industry. Most of it was PR related and what was good advice then is unnecessary now. All you need is an indexed page if you are looking for a back link and one link is much the same as the next until you start talking about genuine officially recognised Authority sites.
