What is the profit of directories?

    Part is for link building, but if you can find good solid directories in your niche you'll actually get some hits from those directories (because people use them or they are indexed in google). Try to find directories with a good traffic rating and you'll have a better chance of getting hits to your site.

    Profit, or Benefit?

    Profit is going to be very different directory to directory. And I doubt any one of us will divulge that kind of sensitive data.

    Benefit (as far as the end user) is going to be in adding to their overall link building strategy. That can include but not be limited to a whole range of things from traffic, pr, rank, index level, etc.

    @johnaschen There was a book published back in 2008 about this topic's hmm let me see if i can find it, a yes. webdirectoryprofits.com. Since the material on that website it is outdated, it will give you a small picture about Web Directories. Hope it helps.

    Directory links to other web sites and categorizes those links. A quality directory always give the best result in search engine ranking. Quality directories mean the directories which have good PR and they should be good at approval. Then, its useful to gain some quality links from quality directories.

    The main benefits of Directory Submission is to gain backlinks of websites but the important thing is- done only dofollow directories because google and other search prefer dofollow links.

    I do not see coming a lot of traffic form directory links but they definitely form a part of a linkbuilding campaig. Look for the competition in Google. If they are in a directory try to get there too and then get some more directory links.
