hi, I have participated on discussion about do-follow and no-follow links. But it is still hard to understand one simple thing. Why does the Google not see a link as a link and not as do-follow or no-follow? I don't know what they really want to prove by this theory but I feel that it is utter nonsense and they should really alter this theory. Can anybody tell me what are they gaining from this? I feel that if people just comment on blogs(regardless about the do-follow and no-follow) they will gain SERP on google as well and other major search engines.
do follow and no follow concept is make for search engines to show them that this is useful/unuseful links. for exa. in vb forum your profile link is coneecting with dofollow but the logout button feq etc. conecting with nofollow . hope this will help.
google wants to eliminate spam by the best of their abilities. by creating the horrible no follow tag, they are hoping that spammers won't waste their time posting knowing their links wont count.
I actually like what they are doing in a way. But there are still a lot of links that are getting left out. Some bloggers make everything nofollow when they have a pagerank of 4 or better. It would make sense in my head that these links are counted as relevant no matter what. I think they should just try to count all links relevant if you have a pagerank of four or better.
Google considers each DOFOLLOW backlink as a vote. However sometimes websites don't want to vote for other site but they still need to include the link in their post. For ex: i am writing on my site about how crappy your site is and provide a link to your site. I definitely don't want to give you a "vote". Thus, i make the link nofollow so that you don't get any benefit.
Further to what himoacs has said - the nofollow attribute was quite specifically designed to stop (or deter) spammers from dropping their own links on other people's blogs - as the blog owner has clearly not made a decision to 'vote for' or link to that site.
