What is the primary benefit of a high PR?

I currently have a PR0, although with multiple PR predictor sites, it looks like I will have at least a PR3 after the next Google update.

What is the primary benefit(s) I can expect from this increase?

    Nothing at the moment :)
but you can look at maybe selling links from your site when it gets to at least PR5 ....

PR does not significantly effect your SERP results.

Only you can sell links at higher price / make exchanges with higher pr sites from your niche and get bether crawled and deeper

    PR doesn't meant traffic

Money from selling links to people that didn't find out high PR does not affect SERP!

So, its all a sham with no benefit at all, and eveyone spending money on it has been duped?? Come on, there are probably millions spent on purchasing backlinks based on PR, there has to be additional value attached!

Backlinks can also result in traffic from users clicking on them, it's two-fold.

out of curiosity, what sites did you use for the future PR checker? I'm also PR0, and have gotten nothing but results like "Cannot determine" and "PR 0".

Probably the most widely used is http://www.iwebtool.com/pagerank_prediction, but I just googled pagerank predictor and got a bunch. Interestingly, I just plugged in my info again and got the same "cannot determine" result. This wasn't the case yesterday. Hmmmmmm??

There are no accurate tools for PR prediction... Back to topic, high PR means higher text link value :)

    This is wrong.

PR is extremely important in order to pull your pages from supplemental index into the main index.

If your pages are in supplemental index you have no chance to rank in the SERPs.

Naturally, PR is not important for those who do not rely on Google's SERPs to bring traffic.

If you have optimized for certain keywords then you will have higher chances of ranking higher if the page rank goes up to 3. Higher page rank=higher chance for better ranking...If you did your onsite and off site optimization factors the right way you will get top placements. I have done it for many sites and it seems like thats the way it works..

Selling links for webmasters that are desparate to have backlinks to their sites.

In a nonprofit site like mine, PR has no "cash value". For me, a higher PR is just a bit of feedback, saying that I'm doing a good job in building inbound links.

A little puzzling to me, though, is the fact that in the previous update, the PR dropped from 5 to 4, despite an aggressive link-building campaign. More importantly, though, traffic went up, so I can't complain.

Jim, PR is not just about building backlinks..Google check for quality backlinks.

Its very important to have few quality backlinks than a bunch of paid links from niches irrelevant to yours.

For e.g if u have a medical blog and got paid backlinks from technology website. Google won't weigh them with the exact value. so its important to have quality backlinks and not any backlinks.

Agreed, and that's the approach I've taken. I have two good .edu links, a bunch from relevant websites, and a ton of directory listings (some of them from very good directories, including DMOZ). It's been almost two years since I purchased any paid links.

The whole Google algorithm is based on PR,The page rank dictates at what position a page will show in SERPS,

Partly true, partly not. Google itself acknowledges that PR is a factor in their search results. But they point out that many other factors also enter into search results. No one but Google insiders knows what weight is placed on each of the multitude of factors.

If a pagerank predictor predicts you're going to have a PR3 after the next update and your site is currently showing 0, do you benefit from the '3' already? Or will you benefit from it after the next PR update? Thanks in advance!!
