Okay, in the past I've spent months developing blogs trying to create a helpful website with value. It may make a bit of money before it eventually dies. I can slap up a few affiliate sites and within a month be earning $200-$300 consistently with no work at all. That's the one thing that annoys me about working online. Effort != Results. All my highest earning sites are just pieces of crap, but when I try to provide good value they just become ignored. Just needed to vent.
It doesn't matter, as long as you are earning good income from the affiliate then what's wrong continue providing crap site.
Even though its sad id have to agree if it pays and it works hey im not gona complain. in all reality i do feel your pain. Its hard to offer something of good quality and source and every body flocks to the website that is well garbage. I feel it too i feel it too. Regards Xain Faith
it may be the way your marketing your value sites? as i dont know what these are its hard to be more specific.
Maybe you're experiencing the good/bad luck factor in online business. Most people don't exactly know what they do and can only measure in terms of income from a website. But there are so many other factors... I've noticed that searchengines and splogs (spam blogs) really like crappy content and lousy websites. Most of the time because of their simplicity and their 'stuffing' of keywords. Though I must warn you about this trend. People are being fed up that searchengines give them crappy results. This can be measured by less people searching less stuff on their site. Eventually the searchengine has to do something, and will implement new tools to weed out all the crappy MFA (Made For Adsense) sites. But the biggest benefit of 'good' sites lay in the longterm. It might need some time to grow and really start making consistent profits. But good websites will continue to do so year after year. While one so-called Google Slap might eliminate 100 of your crappy sites at once. It's all about giving the actual visitor what he/she wants. That's what the internet is all about. -Dave
I feel it too. Not only that, but it seems the honest way takes years to be worht it, but on the other hand "make some stupid Ebook" then the suckers will buy 80 per day and you'll be loaded in a month. It absolutely drives me up the wall.
Hi, I dont understand what your GOALS are? What do you call quality sites? What do you call crap? You are earning good money and still not happy? I think you should define your Aims & Objectives before going for online marketing. If people are going for your products you should be happy that you are providing them WHAT THEY WANT! As for search engines, we should not be against them, I'm 100% sure ppl writting against them would be using them all the time. If they were manupulative, they wouldnt have the market share they have right now. Appologies if i offended someone, Thank you
Maybe because you are marketing your crappy sites more agressively than your "good" sites. If you expect your good site to sell because you think it is good, you're wrong. Try to market your good site as well as the bad ones and you'll make the $$
Same here buddy, when I put all my effort in something I'm passionate about, I get nothing back... whoever said that results = the amount of effort you put in must be either lucky, or a fool.
no matter how hard you try, if your market is too saturated, you'll never make it. If you're making a blog about SEO, it will be a failure waiting to happen, even if you know more than the average person on the subject. It's just too hard to find things on Google because the search engine is too biased toward websites that have been up since the 90s, or have tens of thousands of backlinks.
I definitely agree. My biggest earners are absolute trash sites. Whereas I can develop a good looking blog with daily content and get cents a day. It's baffling!
One thing I definately want to add is the power of leverage. Then your formula becomes 1+1+1=3 or Effort + Leverage = More Results. You can get leverage by having people promote for you, gaining JV partners, having systems in place. -Dave
Its not that hard of an equation. Look in the real world. Those who pay for advertising usually succeed. Those who try to ride free typically fail.. Online business methods should not be any different than traditional offline business methods....
Months? Here's a reality check from a pro: A Reality Check about Blogging for Money May give some consolation.
Few people will ever make enough money to support a family by blogging that is some very misguided advice in my opinion.... Any real world business models you could supply, that make much more of a realistic endeavor???
I don't know what months or years have to do with anything other than it takes years usually for one to find success. Less than 1% of the population will make enough money blogging to support a family.. I don't see what the time frame of whether it be months or years has to do with what I stated.
