What is the point in Google Analytics (From Business Perspective)?

    Why did Google make things like Google Analytics if it makes them no profit whatsoever? There has been a hell of a lot of work been put into it, yet it appears they make no profit from it!

    What is the point in Google Analytics from a business perspective?

    i think it was a tool made for adwords users to track the traffic they get from the ads in a better way.. and moreover google can monitor the traffic of sites which use analytics and probably they might be using that for search listing too i am not sure just guessing

    It definitely helps them to target and make the most money for themselves with their adsense program. As you said, they wouldn't invest this much for any other reason :)

    you don't really know what exactly the use of it.. if google have more interesting and helpful stuff the more visitor they can get and the more possible advertiser they can have.. and that's how the money rolls..

    Think of all the sites out there using analytics. Google is getting a wealth of information from people just giving them a huge amount of tracking information. I'm sure that's worth a lot to them, especially their Adsense program.

    They are far more smarter than you think they are. No one provides it for Free but Google... they are aiming for higher goals... there are many other services where they make money from... the know where to charge and where not to.

    If you are asking Google is not profiting from google analytics then why they are invested in so much money in such service?

    The answer is simple most of website owners are used to Google analytics services, so in anytime in distance future Google will make this service a paid service and start making profit from it.

    Google has done something similar with Google Apps, initially they were providing more than 2000+ email add free then that reduce to 50 and now just to 10 so if you were using Google Apps before and want to use it once again than you pay for extra users.

    its simple. its for the branding. why people provide free service after buying products? it is only for maintaining the brand name. that is like, "you have to analyze your site? why find other sites? we have the solution." so you will never ever go other sites for any problem :)
