What is the penalty for false impressions?

I maintain my site through Dreamweaver so everytime I'm making updates, I view the live site to see how it looks and therefore, it counts as an impression on pages containing Adsense.
What action will Google take if any towards people who are visiting their own pages? I know that when you check pages on your site containing Adsense, it counts as an impression. Does Google penalize false impressions?

I wouldn't worry about that so much. Just make sure you don't click your own ads.

You can view your site any number of times and google won't penalize you for doing so and they are not actually false impressions. But be careful not to click your own ads. :)

it is usual that you will be maintaining your site and view it but as long as it is within reasonable limit, there is no issue

there's no problem, but your CTR might be very low and your ads might be served below average prices.. that's the worst case scenario.

If the false impressions are too high, the penalty is banning!

I generally work on my sites on my localhost before going live, there is no penalty for impressions just don't ever click your own ads, i accidentally clicked one while on my localhost i contacted google and explained and the laughed about it and corrected the stats.

    Good luck
