If I were to learn a new programming language, which one would I get paid the most for? Thanks in advance!
My son's friend is graduating from electrical engineering this year and already has a job offer for over U.S. $80,000 per year to start, assuming he passes his final year. He did not focus on a specific programming language. Like hime, do not take short cuts. Get your education at a fully accredited and recognized college or university. Learn as much as you can. Akways work hard. Maintain your grades. Be personable and engaged in the world around you. The rewards will be there.
Thank you for the input! Now are these rates for a full time job at a company or could you get them freelancing?
DBA's - especially for peoplesoft get paid Really nice. .NET is a good one - and actually the Macromedia "niche" markets like Authorware and Director have a big demand and little supply... you can proably name your price. Assembly is big. Anything On-Board (closer to Hardware) the better pay... The company I currently work for is having me go out right now to another company to consult (train their team and do a project with them) for $125 an hour in Advanced Macromedia Flash... Too bad i get like 25 bux an hour of that, lol
on full time more valuable are C# or Java. Also some specific field are good also. As for me - I use .NET, Delphi (Object Pascal) - yes, yes - just have some project on it. For freelance PHP - and it don't prevent me to ask $20-25/hours The main thing - is to know what are you doing, to be professional in your field. Also certificates and bachelor or master degree in computer science is required
Many of the languages listed here are changing quite quickly, and who nows if they will be around in 2-5 years. (Cold Fusion) If you can find a way to get a solid programming background, it will pay off in the long run. I think php is a great language, but without much of a background, it will be tough to be competitive in that area.
Can someone explain the difference between c, c++, and c#? I think one of those would be the right choice for me because there wouldn't be tremendous competition like with php/mysql. Thanks!
are you kidding? there is are a lot more professional coders using c, c++ and c# than there are php, there is also a much greater demand for those languagues.
best laungauges to learn currently would be c# or java those are the most commonly used in business software developement as a certified java developer with a few years experience my daily rate is £250 for an 8 hour day. £250 = $450 $450 / 8 = about $55 per hour
I base my statistics on DP But anyways, if I learned c++ it would be a good base for a lot of languages right? What language is used to make software programs for windows?
at the minute most of the windows stuff is done using the .NET framework, so vb.net and c# are popular but you can use c++ its just a bitch to learn.
If you know PHP and MySQL, you're gauranteed work with the demand out there. There is also many high-pay projects available, too. Just take a look at my sig and click on the Get a Coder link to view some pricing for popular programming language jobs, such as C+, PHP, ASP, etc.
