What is the most SEO friendly way of combining many sites into one new one?

    My company many sites.

    www.xxxsite.com
    www.yyysite.com
    www.zzzsite.com

and they are all up and running, doing pretty good too.

We're making a new site and the old sites are going to be like this:

    www.newsite.com/xxxsite.asp
    www.newsite.com/yyysite.asp
    www.newsite.com/zzzsite.asp

It's all new content, nothing taken from the old site so no duplicate content issues.

My question is, do I wait until the new site gets indexed in google, and THEN redirect the old sites to the new urls one by one

or do i put the new site up and 301 redirect the all of the old sites to the new site as soon as it goes live?

    Thanks for your help! :)

I'd go for as fast as possible. This will help the new site rank sooner and will make sure the old sites don't collect new links while the new one is already up.
