    I don't think I have ever seen a movie so devoid of hope, in my life. Even though it was a great movie, I don't ever want to see it again.

    I would also add:
    The Road
    Pan's Labyrinth
    Million Dollar Baby
    The Mist - Maybe more disturbing than sad, but If you made it to the end of this one, then you know what I mean.

    Murder in the First. An old movie with Kevin Bacon. It's not really historically accurate, but it does paint a rather horrible picture of how cruel the prisons of old used to be. I wont watch it ever again because it really depresses me.
