What is the most profitable website TYPE?

As far as websites go, what is the best someone could make for making money, or for making the website itself valuable.

A shop where you only sell affiliate products?

Some sort of social networking site?

A directory where you sell features spots in the categories?

What site type would be the most monetizable? And what site type are people most likely to pay alot to buy outright?

Thoughts/experiences?

 

clearly, sites like Facebook, Twitter etc have proven that for outright value they are by far the best (in todays market at least) - thats providing you get it right of course... all about timing for those two examples.

It seems to me that the people you see making the money on a daily basis are those in the MMO niche.

I think anything that gets people involved can be a money maker - whether it be a blog, a social site or a forum.
After all, money is made by the visitors.

 

If you got the money hire people to write news everyday about various stuff, if you don't have that anything social will do the trick, but your worst mistake will be launching the site and waiting for people to join, people don't care about how cool is your social network or idea is, you should convince them somehow that it will make them cool
and I believe you should also consider paying for advertisements and blogs to write about your new social application or whatever, because you will wait, wait, wait, and give up, so the key is INVEST, but INVEST with a plan

I think is a shop. You can advertise on Facebook, Adsense and convert in sales.

 

Personally, I've never made much money with blogs or information-based websites. I know many people use Adwords (and other programs) to monetize these types of sites. But for me, it doesn't seem as profitable as affiliate marketing.

My approach has been building complete websites and content around a particular product or niche. All the content, tools and pages are designed around promoting that product. But that's just my approach

 

any site can earn good money if people come there, I like forum type micro blogging site, where available information for readers..

 

MMORPG-type sites. Players get very into the games and often pay for digital goods, even if the game is free to play.
Unique social-oriented websites do great, obviously, although I'm sure you'd have to be very unique, useful, lucky, etc. to actually make anything out of one.
Anything that adds a lot of value to someone else's life.

 

Sex and gambling related websites are the most profitable, I'd guess.

In my opinion there is no "best" site for making money. I think any site has the potential to become big money makers. It all depends on the amount of work you put into it, and how willing you are to develop and keep learning new things that will benefit you along you journey to success.

The people that make the most are the ones that followed there passion. When building a site it is always better to follow your passion, because it's generally takes a while before the money starts rolling in. If your building a site just to make money from it then you are going to have a rude awakening. Making money onlinenall starts with providing value to another persons life. That's why again I say it's best to follow your passion and let it take you all around the world & back.

Yes you are absolutely right ..any site with good traffic can earn money..so choose accordingly..like movies, songs , lyrics, celebrity gossip etc. Try out any one of these you will get good revenue ..

2. Right Timing( Such as Facebook)

3. CREATIVE AND UNIQUE

4. FOCUS.

All types of sites make money. Some people do better in one type and some in another. There is no exactly one best type of site. But most importantly, find your passion and FOCUS. Its best to have an online store. you CANNOT compete with social networks. People are bound to it and them cannot be involved in new social networks..............

I think the most profitable site is the one that gets the most users. Users = ad revenue OR affliate revenue OR direct sales = $$$ = value
In other words, you can convert users into money very easily.

 

Social networking sites, like Facebook are making the most profits now. But if you want to buy Facebook, you need to shell a lots and lots of $$..

If you're creative (know good web programming), you can code your own social networking site, but remember the concept must be very different, from the current available social sites.

If you want to sell products, I recommend you start a niche blog and do affiliate marketing, go for Google adsense, or other advertising networks.

If you're good at writing articles, go for copy-writing and sell articles to websites/blogs.

If you want to start directory submission site, you must earn high reputation at first. Do advertising and stuff..

According to me, if you're a newbie, start a niche blog first..

 

I don't think sites like Facebook and YouTube are making a lot of "profits". They are valued extremely high, but as far as annual profits go I don't think it's much. If anything they may be losing money.

In my opinion the best way to to have a profitable website is to not rely on "just ads". You can make a good amount of money with ads, but it shouldn't be your main source of revenue. Focus on selling an information product, promoting affiliate products, or something else that you are interested in. We used to rely on ads and were making good money, but then we started offering ebooks and now ads only account for around "15%" of our earnings.

So basically we started making 7 times is much money by adding downloadable products.
