What is the most involving content?

The guys from BuzzSumo recently held, as for me, rather useful research, the purpose of which was to understand - what kind of content gets more sharing.

During these researches they received the following answers:

    1) Long texts get more sharing than short
    2) At least one image presence leads to more sharing on Facebook
    3) Posts on Facebook with a picture, description and link get more sharing
    4) The presence of at least one image in your post leads to more tweets
    5) Shock, amuse and entertain. Impact on the ego
    6) The best day for publication is Tuesday :))
    7) Re-announcement of the material is an effective tactic
    8) 10 is the magic number for the items lists
    9) People like to share articles-lists and infographics
    10) People are more likely to share that content, which indicates an authorship

Who thinks what about this? Agree or disagree?

    Thanks for sharing @Ann1990.
I agree with most of these points, but can you explain what's so special about Tuesday? I mean content published on any other day would do equally well. It's the content that matters ultimately, not the day IMO.
Next, what do you precisely mean by 're-announcement of material'?
I don't know if 10 has got some numerology behind it, but many of the viral/popular item lists I've seen do not restrict or inflate themselves to '10' particularly. I can't really figure out what kind of magic '10' has got??

I think it's important to know the visitor so you can give them what they want.

    I'm confused by point #10...

Any idea about the direct relation between sharing of content and its authorship? I mean is it that higher ranking content is shared more because it's more noticeable?

Doubtful. Profile photos no longer show in the search results so authorship isn't even that obvious anymore.

I think the direct relation between content sharing and its authorship is explained well here – http://andupdatemywebsite.com/content-marketing/research/quality-content-shareable-content/.

    Thanks for sharing this,

I agree with most of it. In terms of the #10, when I create list posts, I try to go more than just the regular ten. Sometimes I may have 17, 23, 37 etc. But I'll have to do a test sometime and see the results from the number 10 compared to another number.

Also, I'll have to test that Tuesday thing also. I was tole Monday and have tested Monday vs. Thursday and Monday won out but I'll have to tey Tuesday now to see.

The first thing I do is go to https://app.buzzsumo.com and type in a keyword that is relevant to my niche. For me, this could be "spirituality", "Buddhism", "New Age", etc. For you, it might be "marketing", "SEO", "Fly Fishing", or whatever.

In the results, there will be blog posts that have ranked well and been shared a lot. I'll use this information to generate blog post ideas that seem popular and I'll create a list of topics. I usually have around 30 - 60 topics in my list.

Next, I'll begin writing an article for each topic. Each article gets scheduled for posting on my blog, one per day. Once I have about a month of posts scheduled, I can sit back and begin working on my next round of posts without feeling rushed or overwhelmed.

Generating high quality content on a niche blog to engage your readers is not as difficult as it may seem. It just takes a little work!

This will at least give you an idea of what to write about. If you end up hiring someone else to write for you you can give them examples of the content you want written. Hope this helps!
