In jasonmark's defense, just because something shows up in a search doesn't mean its right, or the best way to go about something. There's a lot of BS out there. When commenting on a blog post if you actually leave good information, or interesting information, not only are you going to get that backlink but people might even click your link and visit your site.
Link Exchange is best technique of link building. Because it gives quality & niche backlink for a website
I don´t agree that Link Exchange would bring forward your link link building. They could bring you some traffic, if the audience from your page is matching with the audience of the page where they placed your link.
My favorite method of link building is article submissions and forum postings. Both of these are my regular activities.
