Foreign ppl tend to think "blonds and polar bears", but I'd have to say it depends on your interest and your own location. We've had quite a few ppl make a great impression around the globe, for example Peter Forsberg, Annika Sörenstam, Dag Hammarsköld, Olof Palme, Björn Borg to name a few. Geografically I think Stockholm would be most famous. As for a "thing" I'd have to say the Wasa ship, famous for sailing a few hundred meters, sinking, laying on the seabed for 333 years and then being salvaged and put almost unharmed in a museum (almost unharmed for a ship thats spent more than 300 years at the bottom of the sea that is). -> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vasa_(ship)
WTF if you can't respect your country then go to Hell..and if you do not have knowledge about this Great county (emerging as top world power) then better you do not post in such discussions. There are number of things which are world famous, it would take thousands of hours to describe about some .. let me name few - Taj. Red for Dayal Bagh Lodhi Garden Konark temple Golden temple and there are many more..
Not to offend you but most of the things you mention are unknown to me, but I do know of the corruption. And no, I'm not from India, from Sweden in fact (if that wasn't obvious from my previous post). More than that, and I'm even more sorry for this, the most known fact about your country (to me) is your conflict up north and, on the good side, the fact that the tibetan exile government operates from a base inside india.
