I was just wondering what the most expensive keyword that people have seen on AdWords is and why they think it cost so much.
$10 for my company's name. Why? It's because of quality score. But my landing page is very well optimized and i asked them again, why? They can't tell. Crazy
Minimum Bid isn't really a guide to how 'expensive' a keyword is - I can bid on mortgages for a couple of pence (and appear in position 100!). But the Quality Score will have a huge impact on how much you have to pay to appear top - I assume that's what the question was referring to. There are virtually no instances when it's a wise decision to appear in the top position on a very competitive phrase (since there will be at least one person that's bidding too much for the keyword), so I have no idea how much it would cost me to appear in position 1 on these keywords. But of the campaigns that I run, mortgages, loans and injury compensation are the most expensive areas (in the UK)
