I've spent about $1,800 on directories in 05 (for one site).

Prices ranged from $2 to $300 (Yahoo!).

Seems fair. Obviously it depends on the quality of your directory though.

Yes, I think it has paid off. I don't think I'll spend that much next year but I'll definitely still be paying for directory inclusions.

Um.. it has to do with prices of directories... You are the one who is off topic, what does your post have to do with the topic of this thread? :)

Business dot com would be the most expensive directory that I've submitted to...oh wait, I also submit to Yahoo, the $ 299 deal....it's the most expensive one out there, a lot of the time you'll pay the $ 299 and get nothing more than a review and no listing...and they talk about dmoz being corrupt. ;)
    I wish I could review a site for $ 300 dollars a pop.

Usually just do for the free ones, which I have really throttled down on as they will really push you into the sandbox on new sites.

As for off-topic posts, most will let them slide unless you do a shameless self promotion ;)

I don't think you generally get any traffic from most directories, the only reason I submit is for the link.

I won't pay for a directory link, there are two many free directories you can submit to.

I've paid $25 for a couple, I'd pay for what I get. The yahoo dir isn't worth $299 though IMO.

Can you fill this out? I've submitted to generally one a day for several days now. What is in the nature of the free directories which will earn the sandbox - the "catchall" character of the site, or the fact that the pages are nothing but links...can you discuss a bit?

    Thanks.
