why does many kids (myself included) have the impression that the moon is made of cheese? who started this idea?
It was started by Lord Muenster during a celebration in 1864 in which the Lord, who was like to tell a story, enthralled the assembled children with his tale of his first trip to the moon. Handed down, the story became the inspiration for Melies' "Le Voyage dans la lune"
Where the hell did you people go to school? I have never thought for a nanasecond that the moon is made of cheese.
You should all be shamed that the first word that popped into my head after reading the thread title was: CHEESE! (mmm gotta love cheese) Astronomy being one of my (slightly neglected) hobbies you think I'd know better. But I'll bet you Neil Armstrong came back with a severe case of grilled-lunar-cheese-syndrone and not to mention one hell of a cheesy smile. Grilled Lunar Cheese Syndrome
LOL!!! Was going to post "cheese" too but seems everybody got the same answer! I think it's because the moon has lotsa holes that's why many people (almost everybody) say it's made of cheese!HAHAHA funny thread
even my kindergarten teacher gives us a book with a drawing and a story where a mouse went through so much trouble just to have a bite on the moon.
Yikes...three of us, before even clicking to view this thread...already though the answer was...cheese!!!
Guess what! I know how to count up to ten .. 1, 2, 7, 4, 3, 5, 9, 8, 6, 10 I bet you don't know this yet!
