What is the minimum bidding price to start at?

Is five dollars a good bidding price to start at when creating an adwords account? I opened an adwords account with a five dollar bid instead of the suggested fifty dollars and at .01 cents per click. I did not see any activity on the account for a few days nor did I see the ad anywhere so I cancelled it. I also worry that someone can click on an ad and run the payment up . Is this possible?

you wont get any clicks with that, i assume you mean $5 budget and i dont think there is any keywords that go for .01c. Is it a monthly or daily budget of $5. because if its monthly then, do increase it by a lot. And let google optimise you maximum bid. or go for about .30 if you want to keep it low.

PM me if you would like a $25 coupon to help you start up

Sounds to me like you are confusing bidding and budgeting options. Your budget is how much money you allocate to spend in a month. Your bid is how much money you are willing to pay if someone clicks through to your website. So your bid will certainly be less than your budget.

Keep in mind, however, that your bid will impact your ad placement. So for instance, if you bid .01 and your competition bids higher than that, then your ad will end up at the bottom of the pile if it is listed at all.

This result doesn't surprise me considering the account configuration you listed above.

Of course that is possible. Welcome to Pay-Per-Click advertising where conservative estimates list click fraud to be between 25-35% and more liberal estimates claim that it hits a ballpark of 70%.
