For everyone, I had been using adsense for last couple of months. I had been dwelling on referring sites to generate traffic till now. I have very little knowledge about SEO. So, please clarify my doubts. 1. How do a new website get into top pages in google seach engine? I am asking about absolutely new website say it has been registered only for a couple of days. 2. What is the minimum number of backlinks required to get into atleast top 30 in google? 3. What is 'Google Listings' of a website? is it different from Backlinks? What is its significance? 4. From, which websites, should we get backlinks from? What is the significance of PageRank? Is backlinks everything as far as SEO is concerned? Thanks in Advance.
I'll answer 4 very quickly for you... try and get backlinks from sites that are relevant to your site, that are in the same line of work/subject etc. Also try and get those links from well-established and authority sites wherever possible. PageRank? It's something that people obsess too much about, so just focus on building a quality site with quality links, take your time doing it and keep at it. Are backlinks everything as far as SEO is concerned? No. They play a big part but with the Internet growing at the rate it is with lots of cowboys jumping on board and attempting to throw huge quantities of poor links at poor sites, it's a battle to stay ahead of the low-quality competition, not only for the old players but for the SEs too. I hope that sheds a little light on the subject for you
depend on how you play with meta tags and keyword density not just depend on backlinks (as per my answer number 1) + competitor on certain keyword. Do not know exactly what you talking about. from related and authorized websites PR is about how important google see your site. just 1 of several factors and for Google PR things.
Thanks for the reply. But, didnt you get this??? How MANY (minimum) backlinks at an average are required for getting listed in Top 30 in Google??
Ok, I know it not just depends on backlinks. Assuming I have done everything right about say keyword density and meta tags, how much on an average number of backlinks required? like 100-200 or more than 1000 ?
The question is impossible to answer, it depends on the competition for the required keyword/s. Thanks Brian
I DID get your main question but I answered question 4 for you. I don't there's a definitive answer to "How MANY (minimum) backlinks at an average are required for getting listed in Top 30 in Google??" You're trying to get into the Top 30 in Google (where) for what keyphrase? Who are your competitors in that field? How many backlinks do THEY have, and I'm talking of all the competitors for your keyphrase in the top 30. Go do the research
Wow - there are a huge number of things you should be doing, but first sign up for Google Webmaster Tools and register the URL of the site and submit a sitemap too. Google should index the site within 1 - 2 weeks. Google will then decide how relevant that site is for certain keywords. There is no minimum, but if you want to rank highly for competitive keywords, you'll need thousands (and a well designed site, containing relevant content). For less competitive search terms backlinks are not so important. Not sure I understand your question It is best to get backlinks from well-respected websites, relevant to your site's content. PageRank is the measure that many people use to determine whether a site is well respected by Google. Backlinks are important, but not the most important thing as far as SEO is concerned. In my opinion Content is King.
I have a couple of # 1 rated pages for a few obscure terms and have zero backlinks. But the page covers that obscure topic very well. As others have said there is no minimum. It all depends on the search term.
Who said that you need a particular or minimum number of links to rank high? If it were true, getting in top 10 would have been a breeze of a task. The quality of your content plus the quality of the link really does matter. Now suppose you get reviewed by CNN or BBC or CNBC and they place a link pointing to your site on their websites, imagine the authority those links must have and you will get a huge boost in your SERPs and you can easily rank high if some authority sites point towards your site. Getting the picture now?
Sometimes, it's not just the backlinks that count. You could easily break into top 30 if your content is unique and related to the keywords that are being searched for. Of course, it must be for less competitive or long-tail keywords only.
Impossible to give you specific answers Really depends on the keywords, how competitive it is, how good your on page SEO is, how many relevant backlinks you can build And then there is the website age factor
