CTR is dependent on so many factors. Realistically, You can't know until you try implementing adsense on your site.

And there are so many other variables. Just try it and experiment to find out what works for you.

none of these answers are too helpful.

I am gonna have a stab:

    2.5% easily attainable
    5% reasonable
10/15% what you should be aiming for (achievable)

    Good luck

I'm at the low end of that scale, so I've got some work to do. So 5% is about average?

I think what the previous posters were trying to get at is that it will be different for different types of sites. The point that I was making is that this is not that useful, it is more useful to have goals.

Why not aim for 1% higher ctr every x weeks.

Forums yield lower click results. Content based sites do much better and you can achieve a higher CTR.

i think if we get 30%+ ctr then its good and i know its hard to achieve but we always try to get that. But In starting if u get even 5% then i would say its a good start by you :)

I guess it depends if you design your site to make money off ads or if you want to keep the users on your site
