What is the main difference between unique visitor and returning visitor?

    Unique visitor is the one who has visited your site for the first time... while the returning visitor is the one who has previously paid you a visit! :)

    If someone cleared their cookies,then visiting your site and also who is visiting your site first time is unique visitors. Returning visitor- Someone who is already visited your site.

    i think google calculates it daily basis.
    lets say I visit your site 10 times today, then I would be counted as 1 unique visitor.
    if I visit your site tomorrow I would still be counted as 1 unique visitor, and also as a returning visitor.

    A unique visitor can always return, but the uniques count refers to the number of different users that reach your site. if one of those returns twice on the same day, he will only be counted once.
