What is the main advantage of Vbulletin over free ones? (considering for my site)

I am considering vbulletin for my site and I have about 2 forums with phpbb and smf. I like to know what are main advantages of vbulletin compared with free ones as I have to spend over $100 for the license.

As far as I know, phpbb and smf are doing well with my sites.

    I would appreciate any help.

I never owned a forum. From a user's point of view I like vBulletin, because it looks professional. The navigation is also better. Then there is the reputation feature and tonnes of other features.

It is more customizable to general webmasters, and since it is most popular, there are more people working with hacks, etc. However, I personally like phpBB better. With the knowledge, you can customize phpbb just as much.

I tried to use YABB and I got my rear end spammed off at a rate of 1500 spam posts per day. I switched to Vbulletin and I only get about 2 spams per day now.

    Support.
    Community.
    Mods.
    Themes.
    Security.
    Reputation.

These are just a few keywords that make vBulletin stand in front of most (if not all) the other forum software.

The #1 reason I use it is Paid Subscriptions. You can charge users to upgrade and get access to private forums, features, etc. It's purely revenue in my opinion.

How about from SMF to vbulletin? Is there any discount code for vbulletin?

I dont think there is any discount, but really if you need to judge the quality of the forum just look at how many sites run VBulletin, all high quality sites use it.

There are lots of mods and it will be timeless.

The biggest plus with vb is security.

With open source software somebody (sometimes a lot of somebodys) usually gets hacked, then a patch is released. If you have many forums, it can be a pain to keep up with the frequent patches and, if you don't patch, you'll usually get hacked too (eventually).

    SECURITY AND FUNCTIONALITY

vB offers much better security than free counterparts
functionality: u can do much more things in vB which u cannot even dream of in free ones.. there are too complicated mods in the free ones to achieve them

if u r looking for more functions, without spending then i would say go with "PHPBB FULLY MODDED"

you can use vbseo with vbulletin and you can increase your website traffic more than 2 times. I tried an tested it. Also you have too many plugins themes modifications.
You get better rank on google

Is it possible to use same license for all my forums? Otherwise it will be costly if I develop 10 forums.

You can start out with one of the free boards, I use SMF on occasion, then migrate to vBulletin later if your board becomes popular.
