As the title says, i wonder how much traffic could be gained through good SEO tactics? I'm thinking of starting a mmonfruit page or the likes of to start a blog based around a topic i think i could do quite well in. But would the resuts be better say if i paid for a site name and hosting?

    Thankyouplease.

I don't think the fact that it is a free blog would affect traffic in any way. As long as you write plenty of great content and engage in good SEO practices, a free blog site could perform just as well as a paid one.

if you buy your own domain and use it on a free hosting then it will not damage your site + number of traffic + serp

If you can get a custom domain name, it will make the difference. For example if you had two websites, one was moonfruit.com and one was moonfruit.blogspot.com, the moonfruit would show more authority given its a custom domain, given that's the main keyword you were aiming for. Another point to consider is if you use a free service, you could easily lose it, if you have the content on your personal hosting, you have more control over it.
