i was searched on google about the google sitemap but i don't get any proper definition or exact knowledge about google sitemap. All of you tell me about google sitemap.
There is nothing called Google sitemap, Sitemap is for websites. It's a xml file to tell in detail about your website to search engines. More information about sitemap is here- http://www.dailytechnologytips.com/2008/05/sitemaps-definition-usage-and-tips.html
Generate sitemap in XML file, upload on your site and submit in google webmaster tool... check it this sitemap generator...http://www.xml-sitemaps.com/
For the most part, a Google sitemap will not improve your rankings. They are more used to find any problems with your website that could prevent it from being fully crawled. You could use it to give different weight to different pages, but I'm not sure how much Google actually follows those.
For blogs, if you are running self-hosted Wordpress there is a plugin you can get to dynamically generate Sitemaps. Theres also one for PHPBB. IMHO they don't really work, however you may notice Google will use less bandwidth on your site (I did!)
Also yes they are called Google Sitemaps, that is the official term, they were originally made for Google and other search engines adapted them
Google Sitemaps is an easy way for you to submit all your URLs to the Google index and get detailed reports about the visibility of your pages on Google. With Google Sitemaps you can automatically keep us informed of all your web pages, and when you make changes to these pages to help improve your coverage in the Google crawl.
sitemap is the term which refer to a website's internal linking structure....in a sitemap all url's which links your webpages are shows by submitting a sitemap to search engines give the hint that what is on your website and if they like they will index it...it will be in xml...
A google sitemap is just an xml sitemap that tells google/yahoo or any other search engine information about your site. The sitemap contains a list of all the urls throughout your website and will have information like, how often its updated, when it was last updated and which pages you regard as the most important. You can create a free xml sitemap using xml-sitemaps.com which will index up to 500 pages of your site. If you have a larger site you can buy a standalone version that has some pretty good settings on it. Once you have created the sitemap if you open up an account with google webmaster tools (which is free) you can submit your sitemap to your account and validate it. Once you have done this you will have a sitemap submitted to google which is what i think you are referring to. The google sitemap/webmaster tools will tell you a wealth of information about your site, if there are any errors, if pages take to long to load, if there are missing links etc. So its simple to set up but well worth the time. Hope this helps Khaled
You can read this sitemaps article that contains examples and usage description of all popular sitemap formats including XML sitemaps, RSS feeds, HTML sitemaps, text url list etc.
