    To be honest the Google Dance is a now defunct description....

    In days gone by Google would update its listings every so often. Resulting in some listings going up and others going down. Its this "dancing" about of listings that lead to the name being given.

    In more recent Google history the serps tend to update on the fly with no real "dancing period". The only time when this doesn't apply is when there is a large scale update like "Florida" or possibly "Caffeine" which is coming up early next year.

    The Google Dance is about is dead as Pagerank in terms of importance in the modern SEO era.

    This doesn't happen anymore unless your adopting shady SEO practices. Once a website is playing the game any rises or falls are very gradual.

    yeah that comment about PageRank. Google says it's editing its algorithms by a lot. they claim PageRank was never as important as the other things they use to rank your website, so they took it off their toolbar.
