If I do link:www.mydomain.com I get 58 links. Some are from my domain and some from the external domain.

I want to know the command to check the links only from external domain.

I tried link:www.mydomain.com -site:www.mydomain.com. However it gives message "Your Search did not match any documents".

Why is it not showing when I can see the links from external domains when I use link:www.mydomain.com

You are using the right to check your backlinks. link:www.yoursite.com is the google command to see your backlinks.

If you use the same command at MSN you may get better results, or you could use linkdomain:www.yoursite.com at yahoo.

When I use the link: command at google I only get 9 backlinks, but when I use the same command at MSN I get 234 backlinks. One thing I have noticed is that MSN is much faster at picking up backlinks than google.
