    HI,

As you know there is hardly any recovery to rank on 1st page for competitive keywords.
I would like to ask what is the future about seo ? Say about 5yrs
Everyone says it will evolve? But how?

Social is a different thing. Its a different kind of medium.

Will it be hard for SEO's to survive ?

What should now seo's focus on?

Or is the industry fading out slowly?

SEO is still there, but SEO have to now focus on content only. Over-SEO will be penalized.

What content your talking about ? Stuffing sites with lots of forced content? Is that what google needs?
    Its a bad user experience
Its like your doing specially for Search engines and not users.
Some sites can be content friendly but there are many sites where large amount of content is not required.
SEO means optimizing the website, but with the release of this new algo, optimizing has taken a back seat?
How much can you optimize a site, when google clearly tell you that even if you don't do SEO its ok? What is that means, No SEO?

Will it be like only the top leaders in SEO would rule?

Just build out a good quality site with quality content and don't worry so much about all this SEO optimization stuff. Stuffing keywords on your site issn't going to work anymore. If you have quality content and do natural back linking you will be fine.

Well, I think the business is going towards the social direction. People who manage to produce socially active content that people will love and share will benefit from the new changes Google is implementing. I think there's simply going to be a shift towards users, which is great in my opinion.

Quality is more important than numbers. Some times people go after number of back links rather than one quality link.

SEO will never die! Just feed Google what it likes. Think of Google like a person. Do people like to eat Spam? Neither does Google. Do people want to read an article stuffed "SEO optimized" with keywords so it does not read well. Nope. Google is just trying to serve the people that search. If we do the same Google will like our sites/material. Sure it can be fun to game the system, but the system will usually catch up.

Well for the next 5 years idiots online will think that they have to make their content good and that's how to rank and then eventually they will find out that they have to be a huge corporation like walmart or own some world class site like IMDB.

Yes, it's only the beginning of massive rebuilding of search engine structure. Right now you can see that Google search results are not always relevant to the inquiery - Google web masters still work on the algorithm.

No way, penguin won't change. The experiment which google has started is a success which google also confirmed. This is what they wanted. Making seo's confused so that they can't game the engine. Now google will further make it even much harder with the next updates. Becz matt cutts clearlys say no seo is required, then also you can rank. Which means its clear, Google doesn't want SEO's to optimize the sites via stuffing keywords here and there. Or creating number of backlinks.

Google now has ignored anchor text, stuffing of keys in titles. Also google has ignored links from various link building stuff, where google doesn't give value to those links, by which rankings gets affected.

Now only sites that are branded or have high quality links from partner sites can survive, as it becomes extremely difficult to get into the 1st page position in google.

I think new sites won't be affected by penguin? However that can been seen after 3 or 4 months once penguin strikes back ?

I've heard that if your site held rank through Pandas and Penguin, you will be ok for possibly over a year.

While I don't certainly believe that, I think it holds some merit.

Google will probably be working on a smarter algorithm instead of the ridiculous Penguin that didn't even work out how it was supposed to or do what Google said it did.

SEO can't die by its very nature. The name might change, it might not be SEO anymore, but there will always be an algorithm for how people find websites and which websites are more relevant, and this knowledge will be marketable.

Everyone in the end wins with SEO, even Google. Especially Google. They need and love SEO (even if they won't admit it), they just don't like cheating.

With this update Google is only targeting bad neighborhood to stop spam. Bring the relevant search result for users. Google also updating penguin algorithm to make more accurate search result.

Over optimizing and keyword stuffing has been mainly affected and highlighted in this penguin update. Google loves orignal content.

Why should google love seo's? It doesn't have any business contract.
The fact is that seo's had changed the game earlier, now google has come with penguin update.
Even matt cutts says clearly that there is no need to do SEO for ur website. What does it means?

You say name might change for "SEO" how can that be ? I don't understand. Does google change the name? Lol

I am far from a expert on SEO, but like Padalda said, Content, Content, Content....If you look at the updates google does everyone always gets worried and the response is still the same, foucs on content, and your business will survive.

    I agree to your point.
What i believe is that google should give respect to those sites
    1) which are relevant
    2) which has good links
    3) which has minimum but required content, not huge bunch of stuff

One should not fully focus on content. No matter its important to have content, but i feel its should be about your link profile. How well you sync with social media and your website. Its like about users, popularity and links.
