What is the fastest way to Increase PR?

In terms of link development and google page rank, what is the fastest way to make my pagerank go up? One of my sites was 3 weeks old and already has a page rank of 4, is that really good or normal or should i expect it to fall?

I have joined a link exchange directory and requested 1,000+ exchanges today.

Some advice or suggestions would be appreciated? :)

Gaining links to fast will also tip the search engines off that you are not building them naturally. Be careful

That might not be such a good move, it depends how they do it.

Try some of the free directory's that allow listings.
Do relevant posts in relevant forums / new groups with a Sig link etc

    just my 2c

    I wish you luck

I don't plan on and don't expect all 1,000 of those to come back accepted, nor can I physically ad them all right away. I have a new site with a PR 0, how long does it take google to update that?

Wow your page rank of 4 in 3 weeks that was great.
Building links too fast may give you bad outcome in the next update.
    Good luck :D

I Agree with ServerUnion... it will tip the SEs off if they found out that you are not building them...

To answer your question, the fastest way to increase PR is to buy links from PR8/PR9 sites. But, as the others have implied, I would definitely not recommend it for a new site.

Getting links from high PR sites is the way forward. If you study the original Google PR algorithm you will see that a few sites with a high PR is much better than lots of links from low (or 0) PR sites.

Yep, if its just PR you're concerned about then get a few decent links on homepages of high PR sites, try to make sure there are as few other outbound links as possible, then leave it until the next update.

Where is the best place to get these high PR sites for a relatively decent price?

Any how many do you think I should buy?

heh, well that depends on how high you want your PR to go. Do not confuse PR with SERP results. The more you want that little green bar to fill up, the more you should buy links. But keep in mind that unless you do it carefully and over a period of time it will appear unnatural and your rankings will suffer.

What about penalties for gaining links too quickly? Kinda shoots the whole link buying idea in the foot IMO.

Your best option is to build up links a little at a time. Use the free directories for a place to start. Your PR will go up as your get links from other sites that have good PR. I would never look at buying links for a new site. That could throw up a red flag.

0 to 4 jump in PR in 3 weeks? Did you open your site three weeks just before the PR update? If you did, you already got good number of links in three weeks. You may have to get the back links rather slowly and concetrate more on developing the content. If you buy links from high PR sites, you may buy few, since those links can be expensive. It is suggested to buy from relavant sites rather than from anybody. But if you decide to buy a lot, may be you should spend that money on other kinds of advertising.

    Just my 2 cents.

It seems almost everyone is suggesting that we build links slowly to avoid a penalty.

    1. Who has any documented evidence from a large scale study of this?

(Just cuz a few webmasters say it's so, does not make it so)

    2. If we add our links slowly, how will we ever catch our competitors that have
1,000s of links already and are building more everyday.

    3. Please define "slowly".

What kkibak said is pretty true I think.

But buying links does not mean gaining links quickly. I mean if you buy
a site wide link on a 1,000 page site, that's fast heh. But otherwise,
buying a high PR link on a homepage here and there is not going to trigger
    any filters or penalties IMO.

Actually, if there are penalties for gaining links too fast, it is probably aimed
at the professional spammer that registers 500 domains at a shot. Then they
spam logs, blogs, and guestbooks to get links for those domains.

    That'sa lota bananas!

Most of us would never in a month of Sundays reach that threshold.
