    Sitemap.xml + Google webmasters, backlinks. Expect it to take a week.

    Digitalpoint disabled HTML in posts; you have to use forum code. Don't spam the forums with your link or you may have moderators on your back.

    Fastest way I know is submitting your sitemap file to Google Webmaster tools.

    Nothing is fast. Bing is faster than Google for sure. Go to Google Webmaster tools and set up an account. Get your site map listed and your code to prove it is your site. Generally takes 2-3 weeks after that no matter what. You can post in blogs (DoFollow, which are rare) and forums making sure that you post your page links in the signature, etc. That will get you started. Bing you don't have to do much, they seem to find you right away. Hope that helps ;)

    I think they could have added a xml element in the sitemap protocol specification to indicate something new that when the search engines spider them, they update the sitemap itself with last time crawled and their 'bot signature'. That way this will prevent the problem and eliemnate confusion on boath parties. For example
    <new/fresh lastmod="20091011 10:19:17"/>
    Then the spiders can have read/write access (verified via webmaster tools) to add their own signatures to the sitemap. Like <google lastcrawled="20091011 10:10:09"/><bing lastcrawled="20090901 10:10:09"/> and then a sitemap processing program can remove all the <new> entries when the last of the bots has crawled the page. (by comparing timestamps).

    That said, if you update your website page and then the sitemap which has already been submitted, I found that the sitemap is not being recrawled by google. The modifications take a long time to show up, and the cache entries are still showing from the previous version, and the cache is atleast a few days old... I guess you cant do much abt that...

    If you are serious about getting things indexed. Create your own WordPress Blog. Work hard in getting its page rank up with basic SEO tricks.

    When you launch a new site, create a press release within your own blog.

    I do this and my new sites are indexed in a week or less.

    Also, I don't believe it but since I see it repeated here - a so-called experienced SEO once told me all he does to get it indexed quicly is set it up within GoogleWebmaster Tools and include the site map.

    Sure I do that, but I also put a link to my sites in my own blogs and put out a release via Digg.

    Creating inbound link helps your site get index. In order to do that, engaging on the techniques like blog commenting, forum posting, classified ads, press release, online groups, link exchange, social networking and bookmarking, article submissions and directory submission helps.

    @Justin.Parker76: Just so you know and don't keep spamming the href tags in every post you make, the correct way of linking in pretty much every forum is by using the [ url=mypage.com] mypage [ /url] without the spaces after the ['s.

    Could we please ban that person that is trying to spam the forums!

    The fastest way to get indexed is to create a sitemap and submit the map. Also, having backlinks on popular websites will bump your que to be crawled.

    You may want to try the pinging services like pingoat, pingler, pingomatic etc. to notify google and other indexing engines that you have changed updated or modified your content...
