One of my websites seems got penalty just recently.

The SERP for its own domain name from Google dropped from the first page to 4th page.

What is the exact reason from Google side of view?

    Buying links, selling links?

    Please help...

The rankings fluctuations for the new sites is normal but for the older sites could be temporary.

Over-optimization of anchor text in your backlinks. Dilute your backlink profile or start deleting backlinks.

Doubt penalization will occur for things not in your control.

To be penalised for your own domain name you'd have to have backlinks in the millions from spammy sources.

It could be that some backlinks have been discounted - removed, deleted, sites closed down - less a penalty, more a filter.

Yeah.. dealing with paid links is one of the main reason for a penalty.
But, there may be many other reasons.

there are at least 20 reasons I can name now..and it's not all..maybe you should start analyzing what you did recently (past 2 months) and focus on that
