In the recent months, I have seen a flood of people using BANS and other ebay affiliate template programs. Now I know they have to be getting SOME clicks, which means they have to be resetting some other's affiliate cookies. Have any long time ebay affiliates seen any decrease in overall sales becuse of these sites?
I've been using eBay's RSS feed (with my own scripts) for a couple of years now, and my profit is still steadily climbing. It doesn't matter if there are a gazillion BANS stores, it depends on who gets the traffic. Ask me again in 12 months when all the new BANS stores have pushed my custom stores out of Google
Hi Chris, Kelvin here from BANS. I just read your blog post and thought I'd post my thoughts here aswell in case they are not accepted on your blog... Firstly, the site that "inspired" your post ISN'T built with BANS: http://www.modauctions.co.uk/ Secondly, I found a few of your own stores: http://www.carsforagrand.com/ http://www.propertyforpennies.net/ http://www.motorcyclesforagrand.com/ http://www.boatsforagrand.com/ If you compare these to some sites built with BANS here: http://www.buildanichestore.com/customer-stores.php I fail to see in what way your own eBay affiliate websites are "better" than those built with BANS - especially since three of them use the exact same template (no color mods) and none have any additional content beyond the eBay listings. Thirdly, you said - "makes it easy to entice and exploit people trying to make a buck" suggesting that BANS is some kind of scam or false product which it blatantly is not. We didn't make up these reviews: http://www.buildanichestore.com/reviews.php You're obviously free to post as you like but at least do some research before you start throwing mud. Kelvin
Seems to me you have an hidden agenda against BANS but I don't really see why. Its a great piece of kit, works well if you work hard at it and many affiliates including myself are making thousands a month via the Ebay-BANS affiliate system. In my experience if you just upload a standard top-level ebay category into BANS and leave it there, then of course, you will get zero clicks because of the zero effort you have put into the script. BANS is no magic formula to a get rich scheme, it simply provides you with some great tools to earn a great income with the incredibly popular Ebay business model. To be honest I found your blog title offensive and childish.
lol @ your post dude - I made http://www.modauctions.co.uk and firstly just lol, mainly because I am fully capable of making more beautiful technically able equivalents, I had built that in an hour as a proof of concept and to generally test the water. Secondly its all fair game to be honest. If I can use a quick concept, basic seo and poach some traffic from other affiliates then what - I shouldn't? I have no intentions of creating lots of them or littering the web! Anyway I like your cars for $1000 or less site - I take it your just a bit annoyed my equivalent could get a few of your commissions? If you would like some seo services I can provide? lol Peace dude
Not annoyed at all, or against BANS. In my post I say so. This post is more to ask "Are all these new PIDs going to reduce existing affiliate commissions?" And to the BANS guy, sorry for my generalization. I thought that the site in question was a BANS site. Really what I am against is the eBay box sites that just use the javascript feeds or use the default BANS look. For the record: I am not against anyone getting their hustle on! Go get that $$$ any way you can! To DotWDot: Please oh please take that HORRIBLE green off your site. OUCH!!
lol it was not intended to be pretty man - do you really think a modified bright pink mini cooper is pretty? the sort of people it appeals to are the shocking colour non-styles..lol (mass generalisation but ye) do you prefer this green? http://www.wheels-near-u.co.uk
I run several BANS sites, as well as a home-grown eBay site or three. BANS is a great tool, especially when you take the time to customize it and tune it for your niche. Right now my custom sites make me more money, but I have high hopes for my BANS sites as they're making more money at launch than my other sites in a similar situation.
I don't the small amount of new BANS stores is going to saturate ebay affiliates... the auction market is waaay too big.
