Well you may not have noticed, but there is already such a thing: Wikipedia.

So why on Earth should DMOZ change into a clone of something which already exists, just because it doesn't meet the expectations of a few sad and disgruntled webmasters LOL. Surely it is better for DMOZ to offer something unique and valuable ... just like most of the sites listed there. :)

If you believe this, why spend so much time and effort trying to get listed there? ;)

We already noticed that you don't understand concepts like "completed transactions" and "positive review" but seriously don't you even know the difference between a directory and wikipedia?

You don't need to make DMOZ to a clone of wikipedia but how about making it free from of corruption and throughly open directory? But that will produce too many disgruntled senior editors who need to hit the streets after a real job. ;)

Got a single stitch to back up that personal accusation or did you just forget your assertions about getting busted here despite scrupulously following DPs TOS?
LOL. Talk about arguments from desperation. :p

I submit often, appear rarely. Maybe I have had a little luck since my site is so old, but I haven't had an accepted submission in a couple years.

Once again, it falls down to not being a handwritten receipt....

COMPLETED transaction on scriptlance with POSITIVE feedback = NOT PROOF
A thread with a member stating they bribed their way in = NOT PROOF

Is the fact that the member is banned proof they are a bad person? May I point you to Anonymously? A trusted member here? A trusted editor of the ODP? A Reverend? Still banned. That says there may be at least some truth in the claims of corruption don't ya think? I mean, banned editors IS proof that editors (at least some) don't bother with the rules ;)

Largest? Count the links... the number never goes down, and there has been tens of thousands of links removed. There are also tens of thousands that are all deep links to the same site. And human edited? LOL... check out the tens of thousands of the deep links to the same site ;) They all are affiliated with the same editor and all were added by a bot. Google using them? Sure, they love the ODP... they love it sooooo much they sometime go a full year before anyone bothers to update.

So as far as opinions go, I certainly respect yours ;)

Yes, but the number listed is still far from correct and is certainly misleading.

Yeah, I know that, which is why I put the word SOMETIMES in there ;)

Why was gworld banned? Because of what he said on this topic? Is the mod of this section a dmoz editor by any chance? :)

I am going to say something here for EVERYBODY to read...

I got -2 points in reputation taken away from me by 2 dmoz editors for what I said in my last post. One of the comments says: "it is going to be fun for me to take you down to solid red" with an evil smiley attached to it.

Isn't this ridiculous? I understand now why only me and 2 others are talking against DMOZ, all others must be afraid of losing reputation points or getting banned. You guys have established a dictatorship in this section of the forum. You allow only positive reviews of your directory right? Well, in that case, here: I love DMOZ, the best directory in the world.

In any case, since there is no freedom of debate in here. I am out.

The same week the mods banned 2 prominent posters who are obviously Dmoz... (jimnoble and Anonymously), so suggesting the the mods are pro-odp / against those anti-ODP is a weak argument.

I'm sure Gworld got banned for what they normally ban people for... breaking the DPs TOS. Gotta problem with that?

A few Mods in this forum are ODP Editors and they are doing a great job in my opinion. They have a lot of threads to moderate and look for dupe accounts.
Gworld was banned for his argumentative responses to certain ODP individuals which I find nothing wrong. He has and had been doing that ever since especially on topics as the "Child Pornography Topics", corruption etc. With regards to jimnoble and anonymously being banned my guess its honesty as makhrod always say. It's a decent thing when people advices about honesty when their main honchos breaks those barriers. ;)

It's easy to get into DMOZ. Just make sure you read their instructions carefully before filling out their form. :D

    Thats right, a guess!

You dont know the reason and you decide to "guess" and infer these editors are dishonest, butof course you infer that Gworld was being noble.

Maybe I know the reason behind it ? Or my "guess" is just good enough. Who knows you might be makhrod for all we know as you come from the same continent. LMAO ! ;):D

I know his name is Julian not Jim but what I said is he spoke against Child Pornography. Why didn't you ? Or are you a Yes Mam / Yes Sir volunteer. LOL

I am what i am....simply a person offering a comment that feels your "guesses" were yet again an attempt to cast dispersions. :)

GWORLD gets banned all the time, and generally it's seemingly nothing he's done in the ODP forum, as he is generally found elsewhere posting things against the rules... though a few of the mods here ARE editors, even Shawn (the owner of Digital Point) is an editor! However, that said, what Mr. Jones says is still true...

The mods here are generally top notch, and I've had arguments with several of them, and have not gotten an infraction for saying things about them or DP itself... so if I didn't get an infraction to roasting DP then chances are Gworld is not getting them for roasting the ODP.

I'm not sure where Snooks stands, but it is seemingly on the YES-MAN side of things... it's clear he's got no clue as to why anyone here was banned... but something IS clear, two ranking members of the ODP have been banned so it's clear they are not all that into following the rules. Most rule breakers are dishonest... His/her lack of "guesses" are likely nothing more then a means to cast dispersions :p

The original question to this thread has been answered several times over... the easiest ways to get into DMOZ is to list the site yourself, have a bot list you, suggest a site, don't suggest a site, blah blah, yada yada...or maybe the question has not been answered... but that does not matter all that much. The thread is damaged beyond repair with all the double talk and blathering on about guesses as to why this or that member got banned.

And some how currently I have no infraction which is related to anything that I have posted outside ODP forum and none of my recent bans were related to anything but what I post here.

    That says it all.

By the way snooks, are you aware that jim "noble" and some other senior editors were previously banned from this forum for having multiple accounts and be dishonest by pretending to be multiple persons? ;)
If popotalk post and questions certain people honesty, he has something to back it up by their previous actions, how about you?
