What is the Dollar value of different PR links

I'm a newbie at this SEO stuff, but I have noticed that people sell links - or try to.

So, is there an acknowledged value of links?

For instance, is a link on a PR2 site worth 10.00 for a permanent link?

Is a link on a PR5 site worth paying $80.00 for?

Yahoo values a link on its site (PR7) at about $400.00 for a year. What do people pay for links?

You cannot place a value on these things, although some linking networks do.

    Check them out.

    1) What used to matter is the PR of the page where the link is placed. Not the PR of the site (which by the way ... doesn't exist) or PR of the homepage.

    2) You may want to read this article: "Google is finally killing PR": http://www.marketingpilgrim.com/2009/10/google-is-finally-killing-pagerank.html

    3) It is very important if the content of the page where you post the backlink is relevant to the content of your page. A backlink to a dogs site posted on a cars site has almost no value, no matter the PR or other things.
