What is the difference between providing a .psd(photoshop format) and a .xcf(gimp layered format) website design image.

When a DP user wants to buy a website design, he/she sometimes requests the .psd file.

As far as I know, a .psd file is a collection of layers, and the same can be said about a .xcf.

Is there anything inside a .psd that a .xcf would not contain.
