one way link is site B linking to site A. 2 way linking is just like link exchange where site A links to site B and site B links to site A. one way link is usually better unless you exchange links with a powerfull relevant site that doesn't happen very often.

I find either useful, but sultanofseo hit the nail on the head

One way links are the links from other sites to ours and two way links is that reciprocal link building system. Both rank high but we should be very careful in building the two way reciprocal links because only in the quality sites we can link exchange.

So if i have a page rank 6 site that is relevant to one of my other sites. Would it be better to one way link it or two way link it?

Two way links means mutual agreement among two web sites to display the other's link somewhere on their website. And One-way links are superb because they raise link popularity

One way Linking is the best approach but its very rare that you get your links to be placed on any site with high Pr Without placing his link on one of your site.Or you must have a site with good pr and relevant rich content.
So no doubt one way is the best but usually we don't succeed in this so we prefer 3 way linking. 2 way linking is least Preferred.

I know you have already got answers. Please understand that one way lniks are the best. While a percentage of two way links are good. But never go with two way links that are more than 20% of your overall linkings.

Think of links as votes. If someone links to your site, they are giving your site a vote of confidence. If you link back to them, you are saying "I vote for your site as well".

2 way linking, or reciprocal linking, only works to a certain extent these days where it makes sense to. Whatever happens, don't join tons of link exchange schemes with sites that are off topic. Not only will the links get discounted, but they an also get you penalized.

Can someone provide the technical explanation of why a one way link is better than a 2 way link? I don't mean this in a disrespectful way.

It seems to me that this could just be one of those rumors that were started and repeated over the years, but nobody knows why. Everyone just says one way links are better but really doesn't know why. They just repeat what they heard.

The explanation that it is like saying I vote for you, and then you turn around and say well then I will vote for you too, doesn't get it with me. I would like to know why.

That would mean that you should never have a link back to your Home page on your internal pages. And that you should never use the breadcrumbs for navigation. Isn't that the same as a 2 way link?

That would also mean that if you have a blog, you should never link to a previous post. And the list goes on and on. Yet, we all hear that you should.

So, that is why I would like to hear a technical explanation about this. Hell, maybe this is one of those Urban Legend things:))
